Reaching to Russia - First Orphan Camp in Belarus is Complete

Kudos to YouthReach International Team Members Emily Zietlow, Nathan Delcour, and Denny Turlin along with National Director for Russia and Belarus Ruslan Asadov who just completed the first ever orphan camp in Belarus that YouthReach International has participated in.  As with most such events, pictures will go much farther telling the story than will my words.  So…

Slava, the Pastor of Reconciliation Church (Bobruisk) leads the young people in a morning teaching.  Slava is a graduate of our History Makers Training and is a leader of leaders for sure.

Sergey, also a History Makers graduate, is as gifted a teacher and administrator as I’ve ever met.  He has a tremendous testimony of God delivering him from a truly hopeless life.

Every team needs a Masha but only Reconciliation Bobruisk has a Masha.  Gifted in ways of service, translation, leadership, and teaching, she truly is a mighty instrument in the Lord’s hand.  Also, she’s a History Makers graduate as well!

Vasya was the first Belarusian leader ever trained in History Makers back in Ukraine in 2011.  Philip and Kara Browne were part of that initial training team.  As you can tell, Vasya has been chopping wood non-stop since 2011.  How else would he look like that?

Nadya (left) and Lidya (on right) are two young History Makers graduates with a growing heart for orphan care.  Lidya is the youngest HM trained in Belarus but has a servant’s heart like nearly no one we have ever met before.

Men’s prayer group, Belarus style!

The whole camp.  This was the first Boarding Camp YouthReach International has participated in since 2010.  While day camps are definitely more affordable and easier to administrate the boarding camp experience does allow a level of depth among mentors and children that is treasured indeed.  By the way, Boarding Camps are back on the schedule for Russia in 2014.  Check our website in the fall for concrete dates and costs.

YouthReach Men of the American and Russian sort.  Denny (St. Louis), Ruslan (Novosibirsk, Russia), Nathan (St. Louis), and Sergei (Novosibirsk, Russia) traveled all the way to Belarus to work alongside our growing Mentoring Community in Bobruisk, Belarus.

10 of the students at this camp gave their life to the Lord by the way.  That’s far from a “by the way” actually.  It’s at the core of what we’re really trying to do through all these camps, life skills training initiatives, and one on one mentoring.  Seeing young people come from darkness into light is what drives us and by God’s grace that is what is happening.  Pray for them as they begin their walk with the Lord and begin assimilating into church family life.

Also, on the Belarus side, we have another History Makers Journey happening at the end of July.  We are so excited about this effort because after it is over we will have a footprint on the ground in every city of meaningful size in Belarus.  Mentoring communities across that great country are now literally within reach.  We have some needs still remaining to see this event carried out and fully leveraged in the area of follow up.  Please respond to this email with a “how can we help you finish off this initiative?” and we’ll be happy to let you know.

Many thanks for your prayers, your faithfulness in partnership, and your friendship as well.

Blessings in Him,

Rob
