Reaching to Russia - But Not Just Russia!

After a wonderful week on the Gulf with my family at the beach house of some dear friends, we arrived home brown and rested late last night.  Today has been a lot of opening mail, unpacking, and reorienting our family with life in Monroe, GA.

“Don’t get wet kids.  We just got here.  We have a whole week!”  Yeah, that lasted.

Tomorrow morning I leave for as important a trip as I have had in a long time.  This coming Sunday we launch YouthReach International’s ministry in Belarus via the History Makers Journey.  In cooperation with the International Leadership Institute and Chick-fil-A’s Winshape Foundation, 30 young leaders from around Belarus will gather at a location we’re not disclosing to the public for a week of training, worship, fellowship, and intense spiritual formation.  Ruslan Asadov, YouthReach International’s Russian Operations Manager, will also spend 2 additional days there in intensive training with those young leaders who have a heart for establishing mentoring communities in their country.  It is an exciting time and one we really, really need your prayer cover for.

Traci and the kids will be staying back in the States while I am gone.  Prayers for them are always needed when I am away.  Long would be the list of odd things that have happened to our family over the years while I have been away on trips.  I won’t list them but I will sure ask you to pray for them and for me while we are separated.

Some other truly thrilling news that I want to share with you is that Greg Perry has been named the Co-Director of Spiritual Formation at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, TN.  We have asked you for about two years now to pray for Greg, Jana, and Seth as they sought after and waited for their next appointment.  Our Father is never late.  Greg is thrilled about this opportunity to impact young people’s spiritual development in Nashville, TN, much like he did with World Wide Youth Camps and YouthReach International for 15 years.  If you have Greg’s email address, drop him a note of congratulations.  If you want his email address, let me know and I will give it to you.

Tony, Shana, and Elizabeth Morrow are still on the ground in Ukraine with nearly 3 weeks remaining in their time there.  They have been busy on multiple fronts working with mentors, orphans, partners, and teams from the U.S.  I can always tell when Tony is busy because all I hear from him is “pray about this” and “pray about that.”  He’s doing the work we are all praying about so keep those prayers going for him and his family as well.

Victoria Barker has been on the ground in Big Lake, Russia, along with a new partner ministry of ours, Strong Tower Family Ministries, for the last 4 days.  As I write, she is on a train with Michael and Chandler Bagley headed back to Novosibirsk.  She’ll leave Novo Saturday morning and be back in Atlanta Saturday night.

Our last team of the summer, from Fresno, California, is on the ground with Tony and family right now.  So many great things have happened this summer as a result of the feet on the ground of our short term team members.  I encourage you to check out Olivia Vick’s video from her two weeks in Novosibirsk earlier this summer.  It’ll get cha right where it’s good to be gotten!  Click here to view it.

Ruslan Asadov and Olivia Vick - Presidents of each other's Fan Clubs!

Your prayers, your friendship, your support, your encouragement, your communication…all help fuel this fire God has put in our hearts.  For Him and for you we are eternally grateful.

In Him,
Rob, Traci, Benjamin, Nate, Aidan and Anna
