History Makers Plus!

The History Makers training in Belarus is finished but the Journey has just begun.  As I write this I am tired, need a shave, missing my family, and am in Moscow waiting to hug an Airbus A330 for a few hours heading west to New York.

Ruslan is still on the ground in Belarus where he carried out a special equipping seminar yesterday specifically for those working with orphans and at risk youth in Belarus.  Our History Makers training was for all leaders of all kinds.  Yesterday was specifically focused on YouthReach's and Best Friend's area of expertise - mentoring and life skills training for orphans.

Ruslan wrote me this morning from the retreat site saying,

"My teaching went really well today. Even I had some problems I had very positive people around me.  Please look at the picture I attached. I loved so much all the questions that I had to answer about life skills and our orphan’s ministry.

I’m staying with Sergey and his wife Christina tonight and tomorrow. They are so sweet people. It is a true blessing to have such great support. Thanks again for everything."

Nearly 20 young leaders committed to orphan care stayed a full day after History Makers to receive training from Best Friend's President Ruslan Asadov.

Truly, a movement has been launched in Belarus.  I thank Wes, Joy, Norival, Cristina, Katie, and the whole ILI family along with Larry, Fran, Janet, Marshall, Abbey from WinShape International.  Thank you Bill and Craig for venturing to a place I'd never been to and trusting me that everything would be ok.  Thank you to Joe and Alesia for your years of work in Belarus and to Andy, Mila, and Alvin for guidance and words of encouragement along the way.  You live in/have served in an amazing country among some very, very special people indeed.

With meaningful work continuing in Ukraine and Russia as well as Belarus, your prayers are more needed and treasured that ever.  Thank you all for standing with us the way you do!
