YouthReach International Launches New Partnership in Belarus!
On July 22, 2012, YouthReach International staff from the United States and Russia, in partnership with Chick-fil-A's WinShape Foundation and the International Leadership Institute, will touch down in Belarus to carry out the first History Makers Journey for young Belorussian leaders launching our ministry in yet another Russian speaking country. Belarus becomes the 3rd country, joining Ukraine and Russia, in which YouthReach International is carrying out orphan mentoring initiatives.
The vision for this initiative was started in Novosibirsk, Russia, two years ago as Ruslan Asadov and Rob Browne got to know Joseph Wilson, a church planter from the Atlanta area who had worked for 8 years in Belarus, planting 11 churches, before bringing his church planting ministry to Siberia where he has planted 7 churches in just over 2 years. Joseph has brought many of the leaders from Belarus to Novosibirsk for both fellowship with and training of his local network. At Joseph's invitation, Ruslan Asadov shared with those leaders the vision that YouthReach International and Best Friend have for impacting orphans in life changing ways. Last year, Ruslan traveled to Belarus to scout out the land and see where synergy could be built upon. Since that time our plans have been building towards this launch in just one month.
Early on Joseph spoke of his churches in Belarus as having people who were concerned and prayerful for orphans but lacking a clear vision for how to truly impact them in core areas of their lives including spiritual, relational, educational, and life skills development. This network of churches is Bible based, passionate, evangelistic, growing, and led by humble, mature leaders. We believe this is the most ideal soil in which to plant the seeds of another mentoring community. We know the 8 Core Values of Christian Leadership that the International Leadership Institute has shared with our ministry for nearly three years now will impact all of their leaders regardless of what area they serve their local church. This effort allows us to bless them while also advancing our reach in the specific area of orphan care.
Belarus is a small but influential country just to the west of Russia. Its capital, Minsk, is 2 hours from where we will be launching our efforts. The network of Bible based churches we will be partnering with has done much to influence the younger generation in their country for Christ. Their use of art, drama, and music to connect the message of the Gospel with young people is clear and apparent in this video I encourage you view.
Two things we ask of you as we begin this very important and exciting work. First, we ask for your prayers. Obviously, there is a lifetime of work to be done still in Ukraine and Russia so be sure we are continuing our core commitment to these two countries. This invitation and opportunity allow us to assist fellow lovers of Jesus Christ and orphans to deepen and develop their influence in local orphan's lives. YouthReach International will work with national leaders after this History Makers Journey to determine the needed and mutually beneficial next steps to be taken. Prayers for wisdom and discernment are treasured.
Secondly, as you pray, please consider making a one-time financial gift to assist us in launching this ministry with the excellence and depth we believe God desires of us. Feel free to Google Belarus and learn a bit more yourself about the unique challenges this country and the Christians who live there face. You will be moved I promise. Then pray about how you might partner with us to see this work most effectively launched. Finally, respond to whatever God puts on your heart to give by clicking here.
This challenge is immense but the opportunity is tremendous. We are very excited. We pray you are too.
