$225 For A Cake? If It Blesses An Orphan, YES!

The Community Church of Christ is excited to host our 2nd Annual Cake Auction to Benefit Russian/Ukrainian Orphans with Rob Browne as guest auctioneer on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Greater Atlanta Christian School’s Student Family Center. Please come with your favorite cake, pie, cookies or cupcakes – ready to be auctioned off and sold to the highest bidder! Last year’s auction saw more than $2000 raised and $225 paid for one single cake! Said the buyer of the prized cake, “I just paid $225 for a cake my wife makes free of charge every Thursday night…and it was 100% worth it!” All funds collected from the dessert auction will be pooled together to sponsor as many orphans in YouthReach International’s Orphan Sponsorship Program as possible for one year. Also, those families or individuals attending will have the chance to choose a child online and sign up to personally sponsor them through this program as well. YouthReach International staff, including Ruslan Asadov, from Novosibirsk, Russia, will be on hand to answer questions about the children you will be choosing from to sponsor that evening. Next to meeting them personally, this is about as close as you can come to knowing so much about them!

A simple fellowship meal, provided by the church, will begin at 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Student Family Center followed by worship led by Pete and Mary McReynolds, communion, and a short message by YouthReach Executive Director David Hennessey. The auction will begin shortly after worship and David’s message. Orphan Sponsorship stations will be set up in various locations around the lobby where you can go online and choose a child to support.

For the kids and the cake, we do hope you will come ready to be part of bringing hope to these young people’s lives.
